NISSAN/BRW Corporate Triathlon National Series 2010
Nissan/BRW Corporate Triathlon National Series 2010
SuperSprint would like to thank all 15,408 participant's who took part in the Series for 2010. Melbourne, Perth, Adelaide, Sydney and Gold Coast corporates took on their office rivals at some of the worlds finest triathlon venues in what has fast become one of Australia's premier corporate sporting events.
Melbourne
For a long time now, the Melbourne NISSAN/BRW Corporate Triathlon is a sight to behold. To host 5,500 people for any event is a massive feat, but to host 5,500 triathletes who are swimming, riding and running is another thing entirely. Just one look at the bike compound itself and you start to undertsand the enormity of it all.
The weather was always going to be touch and go, but what wasn't in question was every athletes enthusiam and excitment at competing in the iconic event. With many first timers, there were lots of nerves floating about and on seeing the choppy conditions in Port Phillip Bay, they increased two fold. But now was not the time to back out, especially not in front of the CEO who was standing next to them in their speedo's! In the end, the overcast conditions actually made for decent racing conditions once competitors were on the bike and into the run.
The team transition area was again the place to be, being a hive colour, excitment, frustration, exhaustion and shivering as competitors waited anxiously for their team mates to finish the run, or vice versa, for team mates to come into the area and begin their swim. Every year this happens, with a few companies and athletes claiming they didn't get the memo as their reasoning to why they left their runner waiting for 12 minutes before they started their swim.
Top honours in each category went to:
Corporate Male: 2XU
Corporate Female: Deloitte_2010_02
Corporate Mixed: Casey ARC & NarreWarren Physio
Informal Team: Giant Pro

Perth
Langley Park once again played host to the Perth leg of the NISSAN/BRW Corporate Triathlon, which saw both the Main and Sprint Races undertaken by the corpoates in the West.
In glorious conditions, not a single breath of wind affected competitors on the course running parallel to the Swan River. The competition was fierce as companies fought against rival companies just to get supremecy on the Tri circuit.
Crossing the finish tape first in each category were:
Corporate Male: Cyclebuzz
Corporate Female: Tri Champions
Corporate Mixed: BBL 3
Informal Team: Honda North
Amazing conditions greated athletes in Perth.
Adelaide
The sunrise on the morning of the Adelaide said it all, today would be a cracking day! As it rose over West Lakes, the electric atmosphere generated by all participants was incredible.
As the crowd gathered to watch the first wave go off, the murmor doing the rounds was how calm the water was, which was a blessing for those dreading the swim. The ride and run course provided a flat and fast track for all athletes, with the quickest in each category being:
Corporate Male: Santos Triple Bees
Corporate Female: SKM Team Two
Corporate Mixed: Westminster School Mixed
Informal Team: OneSteel
The sunrise set the scene for a great day in Adelaide
Sydney
What more could a triathlete want to look at before they splash into the water than the back drop of the Sydney Harbour Bridge and Opera House with the sun rising behind it? Without a doubt, the Sydney course is one of THE best locations to host a triathlon, and for 4,600 competitors, they had the pleasure of racing on the treasured Mrs. Macquaries Point.
This year saw another batch of eager athletes charge around the botanical gardens course and experience what this great sport has to offer. With many first time athletes competing, it's great to see the sport continuing to grow and attract new and willing participants.
Taking the top dias across the categories were:
Corporate Male: McGrathNicol A Team
Corporate Female: Commonwealth Bank Girls 1
Corporate Mixed: TWMobiles
Informal Team: Team Brooks
The perfect setting for a triathlon - Sydney
Gold Coast
In a move from tradition, the Gold Coast event was moved from being held on a Sunday to a Saturday, in light of ANZAC falling on the same weekend.
The result, blistering lap times, lightening run splits fast and efficient team transitions! It could simply have been the pre-event training that a lot of teams had been doing following on from the 2009 event, but there was an added spice of excitment and enthusiam for this Gold Coast event, and it was sensational!
The downpour of rain in the days leading up didn't affect the event one bit, as the day turned out to be a beauty. Company colours were on display and the cheering and crowd support around the course was greatly appreciated by all those competing.
At the end of the day however, someone had to take home the category awards, and the successful teams were:
Corporate Male: Team NAB
Corporate Female: Terra Firma Team 2
Corporate Mixed: ClarkeKann 1
Informal Team: The Vet Lounge
The Gold Coast had athletes jumping for joy!
